I was wondering that too, but i looked and it's 1 per household. Multiple household entries will result in disqualifications. I didn't bother risking it for my other accounts.

I take this to mean that one entry per account owned is eligible. Multiple entries on a single account is grounds for disqualification.

I take this to mean that once somebody has won at your household, all remaining entries from your household address are no longer in contention for additional prizes from this contest.

For example: I have 5 accounts in my household. 3 are mine, and 2 are my girlfriend's. All are eligible to enter once, for a total of 5 entries. If my girlfriend is really lucky, and wins....All other entries are now null and void for the duration of the contest.

You had a hard time finding the form? So the big banner on the page linked to in the Original post was too hard to spot?

Well looks like a step in the right direction, now if they could only make it a worldwide action with more minis to go out or something along those lines.

but somehow anet cannot escape their trend of dissapointments (for me at least)

Cmon vizu, come to daddy! But seriously, how many north american players are there? There will probable be well in excess of 500 000 contest entries, with only 375 minis to be given out. 15 of which will be Vizu's. So statistically, you have a .00075 chance of winning a Mini, and a .00003 chance of getting a Vizu. Not exactly championship odds...

As for Quebec... Lets just say it made me want to hug the Ontario Road map

I am honestly starting to think that someone at ANet is doing this just to see how many times they can piss off the inelligible players.
Actually, they do GIVEAWAYS and FREE THINGS to please the whining masses.

Theory: To stop the whining, maybe they should stop giving away free stuff.

Yeah, I'm all for that! Maybe a bit of peace and quiet around here!

...
...

Oh wait, the whining masses will whine they're not getting their free stuff. *facepalm*

Bottom Line: Learn about international competition law before passing baseless judgment with no factual back up! Google and Wikipedia are your friends!

Lame excuse! These laws can be accomodated in competitions with a bit of effort from Anet. Anet wanted a global game so they should put in the effort to treat everyone equal or not bother at all!

Quebec lawmakers are geniuses. They must be, they managed to put a stop to this kind of 'giveaway' nonsense. If only the rest of the world was this enlightened, farcical crap like this would be stomped out, angels would descend and shower us with rosepetals.

There's always a comeback on the internet, isn't there?

Who's to say that Anet haven't tried to accomodate. OH WAIT...

I offer an extensive selection of Appliances (skipping ropes, pogo sticks) for all of you who like to Jump to Conclusions without Factual Evidence or quotes to back you up.

Oh, and for those of you ready to jump in with "But why DON'T they have the money for legal issues?!1", let me remind you of their ethical mantra for this game - NO MONTHLY FEE.

Well really your first post was a reaction to the rest of this thread so you are just as much to blame...

...and as for the money issue to get by international laws. You are telling me that anet spent hundreds of thousands to get "halloween", "design-a-weapon" etc contests international...I wouldnt of thought so...otherwise we would be paying monthly fees.

Its good to see that some people fall for their marketing fluff. It would make anet feel like their little faqs excuse them of not properly supporting their community.

At least I take the time to research what I'm talking about. It's like banging your head against a brick wall around here. I believe stupidity should not be allowed to flourish and be encouraged.

Right. So, what benefit do they have in lying to their consumer base?

It seems like gamers are hell bent on driving to insanity and into insolvency the companies they supposedly support, just because they feel they have the power to do so. And have a condescending little smirk all the time.

This of course may well be true.
However
There have been previous gw pet magazine promotions in the uk
The Grey giant was in every issue as was the asura so there do not seem to be legal problems in the uk.

Now any promotion presumably sets out to showcase a product or service in a good light and encourage people to pay money and buy more of the same.
If so where did the ideas of the disparate offers come from, because even on paper they sounds dubious.

The current pet offers
The announcement that USA players were getting a new pet destroyer in a magazine was great news for us all, because we assumed that the rest of the world would follow.
Then came the let down that this wasn't the case.

Then came the announcement that there would be 2 different offers in the uk, spirits rose again.
But the chances of getting a pet are low spirits drop, cries of disbelief, why on earth would any company do something so blatently unfair.

Then comes the secondary offer to USA they will get an admitidly low chance of getting a pet but they just log onto a website to enter, not buy a magazine so 100% of the pets will be used ie sent to gw players.

Now Europeans are getting very annoyed "my assumption" post in your thousands if it aint so.

Assuming every customer you give a pet to is pleased and likely to continue buying your products and every customer who doesnt but sees others getting them will be displeased.

What was the point of the excercise ?
We now are mad at the company that makes GW when a few weeks ago we were basking in the delight of a new game.
Mad at the magazine publishers who have "probably" lost circulation accross Europe.

Not to mention that a greater proportion of your customer base came out of it angry, than were pleased.

My question is
Was this promotion all arranged by your competitors, certainly it will be used by them as an example of how not to do things and a reason to play there games, so it might as well have.

Change "WoW" for "GW", "Patches" for "Minipets" (or skill balances, or just about anything in this game)...and well... the rest is up to you.

Totally out of context, you cannot compare a patch release to competitions.

Nobody here is complaining about the game or quality of the game. We all know anet have produced a great game that runs a treat, and yes I will keep playing...technically its all fine.

But as for the "extras" or "cream", anet has a choice, and I personally (and many others) believe that the choices that they make upset more people than is necessary..simply because the choices they make are unfair...nothing really to do with international laws. If they wanted to be fair they would simply say "as we cannot be fair about it, we wont do it to start with" or give everybody the same chance in game. Simple.

Nerd Rage Rule Number 12: When you don't have anything constructive to argue, say it "doesn't compare" without actual justification.

Real World Says: When it comes to Customer Service, it compares to all other customer service.

Nerd Rage Rule Number 23: It's only factual when it's within the realm of your beliefs. Actual fact or gamer behavious doesn't exist because if it's not seen to happen on a forum, it doesn't matter.

Real World Says: There's a lot more that goes on in the real world, and the game, that you don't know about or see.

Yes mum...I don't know if you are trying to convince yourself or me???

But obviously you'll have a comeback for any post that you feel is "UNFAIR" to anet..live with it, life is unfair..in your words.

But real world is..people dont take kindly to unfairness or inequity..it doesnt mean it is right or mean we sit back and take it up the proverbial..sometimes its nice to let them know that improvement would be appreciated...

..now over to you for a nerd bashing response I guess serenity..but you wont get any more bites from me as Ive had my say, and this could go back and forth forever...

Now why did you have to go announce it on the forums?

Now we have competition.
